SHAME

"Violence is quiet, starving, harsh.

It can be explicit or even not.

It’s in the eyes. In all the eyes that know what you’ve done, those same eyes that saw those pictures, watched them again and again, send them.

It’s in the eyes of who looks at you for something you’ve done, not for who you are, though everyone could name you easily: slut.

You self-inflict violence when hitting ‘send’, or when, for a moment, you want to give in to that silent though sharp judgment. Violence occurs in many forms: I know it can be verbal, psychological and moral. I couldn’t tell which one hurt me most; but, among all of them, the moral one is the vilest, because it marks you with shame, though you’re the one who suffered it."
